"The more knowledgeable ypu are about what is happening in the classrooms, the more effective you can be"

  • -Paul Zaander

Why is it important to be a "dip-stick"?

You won't be blind-sided by the paddles of life.

The most effective instructional leaders are those who take the time to:
  • Get into the classrooms
  • Put in the time
    • Sporting events
    • Visit clubs
    • Meet with departments
      • Build consensus: share vision
      • Round-table discussions: Listen
  • Pay attention
  • Know the students
  • Talk to the parents
  • Be visible
  • Be positive
  • Be active
    • Share a talent:
    • Read stories
    • Act as instructional aides
    • Teach!
Above all, though, good instructional leaders find the pepole who need the most help and they find the time to be there.
